@cruella369 A little bit of background for you. Tamara was NOT tired of playing Carly. She was tired of playing Carly as Sonny's lapdog when his pairings failed. Each and every single time a pairing failed whether it be the millionth time Vanessa Marcil had come back, or Kelly Monaco, or Kari Wurher, Tamara was always the "fall back option" to keep Sonny's bed warm. Tamara wanted Carly to become a career woman, a single mother raising her two boys. She pitched some storylines to the powers that be and they more or less let her know her opinions and pitches weren't wanted. So with little else left she decided as long as TPTB weren't going to write for Carly, she was going to leave. But that was after a long night of the soul. Doesn't matter what "this website's story" says. Google Carol Banks Weber's "Channeling Carly Conspiracy" and take a good read on that. It says what was happening behind the scenes from someone who knew what was going on. Tamara has not been open about wanting to leave, and she certainly didn't want to come back as a different character. In her own words she said, "When I talked to a friend of mine she said, 'The fans don't care who you come back as, just so long as you're back'." She has been very open about her love for Carly. "I loved playing Carly with my whole heart." So that is how she feels about Carly.

You say you like it when your soap characters change and grow, well according to Laura Wright when she first came on as this "Carly". She said, "I'm going to be playing my Carly closer to the original...." Ergo, she is ignoring all the growth and humanity Tamara brought to the role, and sliding right back to Sarah Brown's version because the powers that be were tired of the growth Tamara brought and wanted "their" version of Carly portrayed, something they knew all too well LW would do since she openly said she would often times find herself sitting down in the makeup room at "Guiding Light" and watch Sarah play Carly. When asked what she thought of Tamara's version her words were, "Oh I was too busy getting married, having babies and living my life." Ergo: Didn't care to watch. Ergo: Shallow thinking. There's one thing you should know about both Sarah and Laura. Neither one have any training in acting. They don't have any degrees or certificates. Tamara Braun has a degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in acting and theatre studies, plus a certificate in Shakespeare from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England. She want to the same theatre training school many of the British actors and actresses went to. In his book "Beginnings" Sir Kenneth Branagh who took the three year program said of the Summer program, "The summer program is harder in that it is a more condensed version of the three year course. There you learn all the parts in an acelerated fashion. You learn how to break down a scene, analyze it and find the subtext in it. The program is open for students from other countries, but the spots are limited to only those who show promise." Apparently Tamara showed promise since she not only completed the two month program, but received her certificate. Jennifer Bransford took theatre studies in high school, then went on to receive her degree in theatre from Dartmouth College. So there's the difference between Sarah and Laura, and Tamara and Jennifer.

Awards: Sarah won for best younger twice and supporting once. Tamara was the only actress who played Carly to take her into the Best Actress field. Meaning, without Tamara daring to submit her name, Carly would still be considered as a supporting character. Therefore the credit goes to Tamara for putting Carly in the lead field. As for Jennifer, if you read my earlier post then you'd know that Jennifer was only supposed to be there short term so they didn't have to have Tamara stick around longer than they wanted her to. So because Jill Farren Phelps knew Jennifer from her time as EP on OLTL, they brought Jennifer in with no intention of having her longterm. This should tell you their dealing with her was all dishonest and disgraceful. Jennifer was treated abysmally and because of that, hasn't acted since leaving GH. A shame really because she is an amazing actress. GH just chose not to showcase her. Now onto LW. Given the field in soap operas is pretty low, any submissions are pretty threadbare. The year LW won she was up against Susan Flannery who was giving a tour-de-force performance on "Bold and The Beautiful" as Stephanie Forrester. I sensed a bit of payola for Wright considering the frontrunner was Flannery. And everyone was shocked Flannery didn't win. So you can make of that what you want. Subsequent nominations haven't amounted to anything. She gets by because she's playing a legacy character. But once Valentini knew he had Tamara, he should have done the same thing he did with Billy Miller with Laura Wright. Cut her loose to bring Tamara back to the role she played.

This thread is talking very much about the sci-fi element of GH and how it's become almost camp at this whole masks, brain mapping stuff. Well there's nothing more stupid than bringing the two other Carlys back to play other roles while the one playing someone named Carly continues to show her cracks. Doesn't matter how long LW has been on, she's not playing Carly. She's still playing her Guiding Light role of Cassie Winslow, only transplanted to Port Charles. Nothing about her is Carly. She doesn't have any of the vulnerability nor the feeling of not being worthy that Carly is supposed to have. She's all entitlement and nothing else.

NOTE: I'm going to be posting this to anther source since I know it will be deleted for no other reason than rank favouritism here on this board for LW. There's no sense to the amount of love for LW due to her lack of training and or experience, but rather relying heavily on histrionics as Sarah Brown did to present herself as an "actress". She is nothing but a screechy, shrieky, shrewish dullard who apes her way through ever scene she's in. And I'm going to say this, after all her throwing shade at Tamara....looks like now LW is kissing up to Tamara's butt.
